It's About That Time Again...

I feel like I just did this... really its because I did. Now that Jace is an independent eater, it's Sky's turn for solids. But this time around I know I need to find a few ways to make it easier. With Jace, I tossed out the jars of (....I don't know whats' in those jars, but I'm not eating it...) - Yeah. I made all of his baby food with a little steamer/blender and he loved it. So, I'm all about doing it again. We've just started with a few basics, a week at a time; banana, avocado and sweet potatoes so far.

This guy kills me with his expressions. He's all about the food too. He knows what's up. ;)

This is the Nuby Garden Fresh Mash n' Feed Set. It's great for just whipping up a quick baby meal. You'll notice there's a textured interior in the bowl to help mash the food into a puree. I've found this to be really handy on-the-go; and for when Jace is napping, but Sky is hungry and I don't want to use the blender.

Grabby hands!! Lol. I was thinking he wouldn't like the avocado, but he did!! Just goes to show you never know... The Nuby Hot Safe Spoons are also great, they change color if the food is too hot and they are just the right size for Sky's mouth. He's 6 months now, and teething, so anything that goes in his mouth needs to feel good on his little gums.

So, the avacados went well. :D I use this bowl every day for the quick preparation of his meals. Super easy. If only it would stay this way. As he's getting into more foods, I want to come up with some sort of baby food plan and storage, but we'll save that for another day.

This thing is AWESOME. Throw it in the fridge, in the bag, and GO. That's one thing I hated about starting solids with Jace; I didn't get the right tools I needed to be able to go out and about, regardless of if it was meal time. Now, baby is going to get messy. Obviously. But for some reason, he gets a little less messy with this. I think its because he tries to grab the actual feeder and hold it, instead of sticking his hands all over the spoon with food.

The Squeeze Feeder is made of soft silicone and comes with an easy, snap on cover for the spoon. If he doesn't finish the portion (3oz), I just snap the cover back on and put it away. Now worries, really easy. So far, so good!! It's funny how motherhood is a mix of wanting them to stay right where they are, and being so proud as they learn a new step. Gone are the days of just nursing on demand, no prep needed. But with the first solids, comes a whole new world of teaching and tasting. You would think with 3 kids, you would have everything down by now! But I'm always learning something new...

Happy 6 Months Sky!!!

Sky. Since having Sky, time moves very fast. I'm always doing some part of the daily routine and trying to process any of my thoughts seems impossible most days. Never mind getting all sentimental. But each child holds a special place in the time line of my life, and I think their birth (and I'm sure their life) teaches me something different as I'm still growing myself.

I don't think there was anyone that 'approved' of my pregnancy with Sky. I actually didn't even make it public knowledge until I was almost 6 months pregnant.

I got pregnant only a month and a half after having Jace; I was very sick every day and started working 50 hours a week, so I just didn't want to take on the load of what everyone else thought. I told the few that were super close to Danny and I. I didn't want to hear how we weren't ready for another baby and what was I thinking... It was all just noise in my head that I didn't need. I spent my pregnancy with Sky blocking out the noise and just trying to get through each day. Waking up at 5:30am to get ready for work, get Jace ready for the day and off we went. Jace was waking up all night the whole time. My daily routine included a bag to puke in because I couldn't keep any food down. And the medicine the doctor gave me knocked me out, so that wasn't an option. But every day I pushed myself because the things I was doing were truly important to my heart. To be a good mother. To be consistent and get through this roller coaster. Because these boys were more important than anything, or anyone. Including myself. Or that's how I was thinking. I was pushing way too hard. The day I almost passed out in the bathroom at the day care, I gave in. I couldn't take care of anyone if I didn't step back and take care of myself. So I sucked in my pride and stopped working. Really, I was working to pay for daycare as it was. I spent the days with Jace; wobbling around trying to keep food down. Enjoying our one on one time together. Still determined.

I had a c-section with Sky because the scar was so fresh from Jace's birth. It was hard because we didn't have any family local and Danny could only take off so much work. It was very rough to 'recover' from surgery and watch an 11 month old. The point of all this is not to complain; there are many worse pregnancies out there and I was blessed to have such a beautiful, healthy baby. And that is the point of it all. Sky's birth showed me purpose in my determination and hard work. To believe in myself and my choices. He amazes me every day. His big, beautiful blue eyes and his big smile... Always looking like he wants to get into something. I can't imagine a world without these boys I have. They give me a purpose; even when I question everything else. They give me a focus when I feel lost. They push me to do more than I thought I could. They are a blessing and I'm so glad I wouldn't let anyone tell me otherwise.

always know that you were meant to be.

It's official, we have a walker!!

For a minute now, Jace has been standing, but afraid to let go of holding onto something. Then he starting walking, only in the house where he felt safe. Well this day, he finally broke out of his shell!! And the happiness on his face!! I love seeing how proud he is of himself as he walks back and forth, faster and faster every time. Now we can really start having some adventures... As I run to keep up with him!!
